Personalize Your Garden With Fun Outdoor Decor

Ruben Franklin

Plants and flowers aren't the only things that make your garden a relaxing oasis. When you go to a garden center or home improvement store and look at all the different types of garden décor for sale, your mind will probably race with all the possibilities. You won't want to clutter your space, but a few interesting pieces add visual appeal to your outdoor area. Here are a few fun things you might want to add to your garden to make it more attractive, interesting, or enjoyable.

Gazing Balls

Gazing balls are globes positioned on stands that you place amid flowers and plants in your garden. These globes can be made from glass, reflective material, or they can have a painted surface. They come in all colors and patterns. One of these balls adds interest and beauty to your garden along with a bit of tradition since these globes have been used for centuries to decorate homes and gardens. They are also useful for attracting birds due to their bright colors.

Wind Chimes

Few things are more relaxing than listening to the gentle tinkle of wind chimes clinking in the breeze. Wind chimes not only fill the garden with a gentle melody, they are also very attractive. You can buy chimes made from metal, wood, shells, or other materials. They also come in various sizes. You can get very creative when decorating with wind chimes. They can pull garden décor together if you are going for a beach, fairy, or Asian theme. If you enjoy wind chimes but don't want to be bothered by the noise, then you can hang spinners instead. They are silent while spinning in the breeze to create hypnotic patterns that are interesting to watch.

Water Fountain

Water fountains are popular outdoor accessories. They add visual appeal to a garden setting and they also provide water for birds and wildlife. You can install a solar fountain that won't strain your electric bill or put in one that is powered by an electric pump. Water fountains come in a variety of styles from a formal design to one that includes a waterfall tumbling over rocks.

Outdoor Rugs

Rugs provide color and comfort to your sitting area. Rugs made for the outdoors are easy to care for. They shed water easily so you don't have to worry about them getting wet. They are also treated to prevent UV fading. You can buy high-quality rugs or very inexpensive rugs you can replace each season. An outdoor rug defines the sitting space and creates a conversation corner in your garden while complementing the colors of your flowers and plants.

Some types of garden décor such as sundials are for decoration only while others such as borders, fences, and string lighting are quite functional too. Adding a few pieces to your garden allows your personality to shine through and they make your garden a more welcoming space for guests.

About Me
Home Swimming Pools: A Care and Maintenance Guide

As a teenager, I joined my local swim team and soon became a champion swimmer. I have been swimming my entire life, and my love for water pushed me to purchase a home with a large in-ground pool. Strangely enough, after years of swimming I had no idea how to take care of the pool. I knew that I needed to add chemicals to get rid of potentially dangerous bacteria, and I also knew that chemicals kept algae at bay. I didn't know how to choose from hydrogen peroxide, salt, or chlorine additives. I definitely had no idea about shock, and I didn't know how many chemicals to add. After some trial and error, a very green pool, and a necessary draining, I figured it out. I have compiled for you a number of blogs and resources so you do not have to make costly mistakes like me.
