3 Reasons To Consider Adding A Steam Shower To Your Master Bathroom

Ruben Franklin

There are a lot of state-of-the-art additions you can choose to incorporate in your master bathroom renovation, including everything from electronic bidets to heated shower bars. However, a steam shower is an addition that is just as functional as it is luxurious. Here are three reasons to think about adding a steam shower to your master bathroom.

1. Relieve Stress

Typically installed in shower stalls, steam showers give bathers the opportunity to release a steady stream of steam into their shower as they wash up. In addition to raising the ambient temperature of the shower area, steam showers are also a great way to relieve stress.

As you stand in your shower area, you can be engulfed in a cloud of warm steam, helping you to melt away the day's worries. If you get too warm, steam levels can be adjusted or turned off completely, making it possible to enjoy a relaxing, completely customized shower experience.

2. Clear Your Skin

Steam has also been shown to be beneficial to your skin, helping to open pores and encourage sweating, which can help to release toxins and impurities that can contribute to issues like acne. Steam can also soften the surface of the skin, making exfoliation efforts more effective, revealing brighter, healthier skin.

Additionally, being surrounded by steam helps to improve blood circulation to your skin, helping to replenish natural nutrients that keep your skin healthy and beautiful. If you struggle with skin conditions like acne or recurrent blackheads, talk with your dermatologist about whether or not a steam bath might help.

Keep in mind that while steam can be helpful in clearing clogged or acne-prone skin, it can also contribute to some skin conditions, such as eczema. Chat with your doctor before you start any new skin treatment to ensure it falls in line with your overarching medical plan.

3. Breathe Easier

If you have ever struggled with chest congestion while struggling with a cold or flu, you know how helpful a steamy shower can be. In addition to helping to loosen mucus and make it easier to breathe, steam can also help to relax your chest muscles, lessening the urge to cough.

In fact, steam is so helpful for chest congestion that many doctors recommend steam therapy for issues like allergies, bronchitis, and sinus infections. While steam hasn't been shown to shorten or eliminate upper respiratory infections, it can make you feel a lot better while you heal, which can make recovering more manageable.

If you are thinking about renovating your bathroom, talk with contractors in your area who specialize in bathroom remodeling. In addition to chatting with you about your options, professionals can also give you a better feel for project timelines, costs, and design concepts.

About Me
Home Swimming Pools: A Care and Maintenance Guide

As a teenager, I joined my local swim team and soon became a champion swimmer. I have been swimming my entire life, and my love for water pushed me to purchase a home with a large in-ground pool. Strangely enough, after years of swimming I had no idea how to take care of the pool. I knew that I needed to add chemicals to get rid of potentially dangerous bacteria, and I also knew that chemicals kept algae at bay. I didn't know how to choose from hydrogen peroxide, salt, or chlorine additives. I definitely had no idea about shock, and I didn't know how many chemicals to add. After some trial and error, a very green pool, and a necessary draining, I figured it out. I have compiled for you a number of blogs and resources so you do not have to make costly mistakes like me.
